Visibility

Visibility is the core metric in Ranketta, the percentage of AI answers where your brand appears.

Visibility = (responses where you appear / total responses) × 100

How visibility works

Visibility is expressed as a percentage (0–100%) and represents:

  • How often your brand is mentioned when AI answers a prompt
  • Your presence across different AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc.)
  • Your share of the answer space compared to competitors

Think of it like market share in AI conversations.

How it's calculated

Visibility is the percentage of AI answers (responses) where your brand is mentioned. We count how many unique answers include you, divide by the total number of answers we collected for that prompt, and multiply by 100. For example, if we queried a prompt 100 times and you appeared in 25 of those answers, your visibility is 25%.

We use percentages because AI responses vary. The same prompt often yields different answers. Percentages suit the probabilistic nature of LLMs better than exact counts. We also query each prompt frequently, not just once, so your metrics reflect a stable picture rather than a single snapshot.

What affects visibility

  • Content quality: How well your content answers the query
  • Citation frequency: How often AI cites your domain
  • Position in answers: Where you appear (top, middle, bottom)
  • Platform coverage: Which AI platforms mention you

How to improve visibility

  1. Create content that directly answers common questions
  2. Focus on prompts where you have low visibility
  3. Improve citation quality: get cited by authoritative sources
  4. Use the Opportunities feature to find actionable improvements
